For her mother Asta’s 90th birthday, Aleta George spearheaded a project that would result in a book that chronicled Asta’s eventful life. Working with personal historian Trena Cleland, I developed a design for the book that would allow readers to immerse themselves in the narrative and accompanying photographs. Specific design elements included sidebars that highlight historical and cultural contexts and a paragraph divider graphic reminiscent of the California poppies that proliferate in Sonoma County where Asta spent most of her life.
